Hey! Guys and Girls! Welcome to ifactner.com
video tutorials. And today we are going to learn: How to greet people? How to introduce
yourself? and how to say goodbyes in Dutch. This is a four part tutorial and let’s begin
our part 1. Hello! How are you? Hallo! Hoe gaat het met jij? Hallo! Hoe gaat. g is pronounced
as kha in Dutch. So it’s How gaat het. Hoe gaat het met jij? J is pronounced as ya so
it’s yiay. Hoe gaat het met jij? Hallo! Hoe gaat het met jij? It’s in informal
environment, when you are talking to a younger person then you say jij. But when you are
talking to an older person or to your boss then you say u. Hallo! Hoe gaat het met u?
It’s not you, it’s u. In Dutch it is pronounced as oou. Hallo! Hoe gaat het met u? and a is
pronounced as aa so it’s not Hello, it’s Hallo. Hoe gaat het met u? This is for the formal
greetings. and jij is used for informal. Or you can say: Hi! How are you doing? Hi
is Hoi. Hoi! Hoe gaat het? It’s not Hoii because i is pronounced as e in Dutch so it’s Hoi.
Hoi! Hoe gaat het? or you can say: Hoi! Hoe is het? Hoi! Hoe is het? Hoi! Hoe gaat het?
Hoi! Hoe is het? Hi! How are you doing? Or sometimes, you great people by saying: Morning!
How it’s going? How is it going? In Dutch we say: Morgen! It’s not Morgen, it’s morgen.
Mor, Morgen. R is pronounced as err. Morgen. Morgen! Gaat goed? Is it going good? Gaat
goed? Ga is going, go, so: Morgen! Gaat goed? Morgen! Gaat goed? Morgen! Gaat goed? R is
err. Morgen! Gaat goed? Morning! How is it going? Morgen! Gaat goed? Or in the formal
environment, you say: Good morning! How are the things? Good morning is Goedemorgen! Goedemorgen!
Hoe staat het er mee? Goedemorgen! Hoe staat het er mee? It’s not meee, it’s mee because
e is pronounced as aiy. Hoe staat het er mee? Goedemorgen! Morgen! Hoe staat het er mee?
Good morning! How are the things? Good afternoon is called Goedemiddag! Goedemiddag! So it’s
middag. It’s not Goede mid dag, it’s Goedemiddag bcause e is pronounced as, i is prnounuced
as e. Goedemiddag or you can simple say Goedendag! Goedendag! Good evening! or Good night is
pronounced as: Goede Goedenavond! avond is night or evening. Goedenavond! Goedenavond!
Goedenavond! Good morning is Goedemorgen. Good afternoon is Goedendag or Goedemiddag
. And Good evening or good night is Goedenavond. And you can reply: I am fine. Thanks. Met
mij gaat het prima. Dank je. Je is used when you are talking in an informal environment.
So you are saying: Met Mij : With me. Gaat het prima : It’s going good. Prima is good.
Prima. It’s not priyma, it’s prima. Remember i is pronounced as e. It’s prima. Met mij
gaat het prima. Dank je. Met mij gaat het prima. Dank je. I am fine. Thanks. Or if you
say: I am fine. Thank you. then it is: Het gaat goed. Dank u. It’s not daink you, it’s
dank u. U is oou. Het gaat goed. Dank u. Het gaat goed. Dank u. I am fine. Thank you. Het
gaat goed. Dank u. aa for thank you, usually we use: Dank je wel or dank je. je yay. it’s
not dank j, it’s dank je because j is pronounced as yay. Dank je. For informal environment
and if you want to be polite or out of respect you say: Dank u wel. Dank u. Dank u. Or you
can simply say Bedankt. Bedankt. Bedankt. Or if you are very obliged then you can say
mijn dank. Mijn dank. Remember that i and j is, basically i is pronounced as e and j
is pronounced as why, so it’s, you can say just you can see that it’s y. It’s Mijn. It’s
not mijen, it’s mijn. ij is pronounced as y. Mijn dank. Mijn dank. Dank je wel. Dank
je. Dank u wel. Dank u. Bedankt. Mijn dank. Or you can say: I am very well. Thanks. Hey
gaat heel goed. Dankjewel. Hey gaat heel goed. Dankjewel. Hey gaat heel goed. It’s going
very good. Dankjewel. I am very well. Thank you. Het gaat heel goed. Dankuwel. Het gaat
heel goed. Dankuwel. Het gaat heel goed. Dankuwel. I am very well. Thank you. Het gaat heel goed.
Dankuwel. Or you can say: Not so well. So it’s Niet zo goed. Niet zo goed. Niet zo goed.
Not so goed. Not so well. Not so good. Niet zo goed. Not so well. Or you can reply: Great.
Thank you. Prima. Mijn dank. Prima Mijn, remember it is y. ij is the small y. Mijn dank. So
it’s a tip that you always pronounce it as y, mijn. Prima, mijn dank. So let’s. if you,
if you reply: All is good. It is: Alles is goed. Alles is goed. Or if you are asking
a question: Is everything ok? You can ask: Alles goed? Usually we ask alles goed? Is
everything OK? Is it good? Alles goed? Is it all right? And how are you? En hoe gaat
het? met jij, met u. You can add it. But if you just ask: En hoe gaat het? En hoe gaat
het? It means: And how are you? En hoe gaat het met jou or u? En hoe gaat het met jou,
met u? How about you? is pronounced as: En met jou? You can say: Het gaat goed en met
jou? And what about you? And how about you? En mey jou? or En met u? So guys and girls,
we will begin our practice session. So it’s a dialogue and you can repeat after me. So
it’s a dialogue session. A is an older perosn and an B is a younger person. So A will be
using jij, je and B, because he is talking to an older person A, he would be talking
to you, U out of respect. So, A: Hi, How are you? Hoi, hoe gaat het met jou? Hoi, hoe gaat
het met jou? B: Hello, I am fine. Thank you. How about you? Hallo, Het gaat goed. Dankuwel.
En met u? Hallo, Het gaat goed. Dankuwel. En met u? A: I am very well. Thank you. Het
gaat heel goed. Dankjewel. Dankjewel. Because he is talking to a younger person, so he says
dankjewel. Het gaat heel goed. Dankjewel. Het gaat heel goed. Dankjewel. B: How’s everything?
Hoe gaat het? Hoe gaat het? A: Great. Thank you. Prima dank je. Prima dank je. So guys
and girls, lets begin our practice session. I will asking you some questions and you will
be reading the answers and you will try to speak them in Dutch. Me: Goedendag! How gaat
het met u? You: Yes it’s: Goedendag! Het haat goed. Dankuwel. En met u? Me: Het gaat heel
goed. Het gaat heel goed. Dankuwel. You, ask me a question. Hoe gaat het? How is everything?
Me: Prima. Dank u. Prima. Dank u. So now let’s suppose it’s You and this one is me. You ask
me a question. Yes. Goedendag! How gaat het met u? I will say. Goedendag! Het haat goed.
Dankuwel. En met u? You. Yes. Het gaat heel goed. Dankuwel. Me. How gaat het? You. Prima.
Dank u. So guys and girls, this was our lesson number 1 of greetings. I will see you in the
next lesson. Until then take care. Ba bye.

  1. Hi ~
I'm a dutch person and I spot a little mistake at the start of your video

When you mentioned the informal version of
    ''How are you''
which you said that is ''Hoe gaat het met jij'' is actually incorrect

    The ''jij'' should be ''je"

Ik wil in het Nederlands spreken maar ik heb niemand om te oefenen met. I have fallen in love with this language and would be extremely happy if someone would be willing to spare some time for me. πŸ™‚

  9. I am looking to see if any dutch person could help me translate a hand written letter that I can not translate with the regular text translators. The reason is that its a hand written cursive letter. I would greatly appreciate the the help. Just message me or comment here.
