Going Green Solutions – Hurstbridge Village and World Wide Web!

Well our business is called Going Green
Solutions and Sean and I started it years ago when we first had kids and we
really wanted to be using more sustainable products and things that
were gentler on the kids. There are amazing products out there but they’re also hard
to find so you have to get one thing here, another thing there… we decided
we’d bring them all together and that’s what this shop is all about. So the aim
is that if somebody wants to change the way they’re living so that its less
impact on the environment I guess and cleaner, they can come here and
get ideas – there are lots and lots of practical, simple things they can do. We tend to focus on really practical products: a lot of food wares, reusable lunch and
food packaging for kids, coffee cups, cleaning products and brushes. A large part of our business is in biodegradable catering ware. We specialise in biodegradable catering ware which we’ve been selling for a long time and we’re
the biggest supplier I’d say in Melbourne. We’ve got a lot of knowledge
about the different options available. I’s what a lot of businesses,
festivals and events are turning to when they need a disposable option but want
something a little bit more environmentally friendly. The products
are made from renewable plant-based resources so not from oil. Plants can be
grown again every year. These products can be commercially composted So obviously reusable is always better in terms of sustainability but if you’re
going to be using disposable then these are a really great option. We have Sugarcane fibre, Palm Leaf plates, all sorts of cutlery lunch boxes, burger boxes…
anything you can imagine. We’ve been supplying the Queen Victoria
night market traders since the night markets began which is probably seven or eight years ago so each year we provide the majority of the 30 to 40 traders with all of their catering ware needs and we’re used to doing bulk so besides the
retail shop that’s the other arm.
