Hi, I’m Rebecca And in this week’s Friday Five I’m looking at the digital design trends that we think are going to be a big deal this year. Animated, dynamic gradients are a great way to add depth and interest to a page. We’ve seen a lot of brands using them recently because of the modern and vibrant feel. Bright colours often evoke a sense of positivity and can therefore make a site seem a lot more user-friendly. Creating visual identities for voice search is a new and exciting opportunity, where all conventions go out of the window. We’ve already seen some really cool examples from Hollywood, and brands are sure to follow. Keep an eye on this one because it’s definitely one to watch. We’ve recently been seeing surreal hand-drawn illustration styles adopted by large brands like MailChimp, Dropbox and Slack. These create a friendly familiar look, and adds a human touch to what could otherwise be a cold, clinical communication tool If you want to make an impression and grab peoples attention then extra bold fonts are still a great way to do that. Although this trend is a little bit Marmite, and not to everyone’s taste, it could be a good antidote to banner blindness, and keep your users engaged for that little bit longer. AR is no longer a novelty and no longer a fad. We’ve started to see a lot of retailers adopting the technology to help their customers make purchasing decisions. This is graet for audience engagement and great for sales. and now that Apple have released comprehensive guidelines for their AR kit tool, we’re likely to see a lot more brands experimenting with this technology.
